Coping With Your Loss

Losing a loved one is a painful experience, and the loss of a pet is no exception. Pets hold a very special place in our lives and in our hearts. Their unconditional love gives us the comfort and companionship we need. Pets share an intricate part of our daily lives that we may not fully realize until they are no longer with us. Their routines are interwoven in our daily schedules and when they are gone, it leaves a void in our lives. At first the grief is very strong, but as time goes on the grief will diminish and the good memories will become stronger. Give yourself time to process your grief, and understand that your feelings are real and valid. Even if someone doesn’t understand your feelings, that’s ok. Only you understand the intensity of the bond you had with your pet.

When the time comes to say good bye to your special friend, we have a certified pet loss/grief counselor on staff to help you through this difficult time. Sandra Coffin has been a pet loss/grief counselor for many years and has experienced the joy and pain of having pets in her life.
